guess I need to find more eggs....

I'm out of Coros... dog attack... I got one rooster. Can't decide to sell him or buy more pullets. The offending neighbor says they won't pay anything over $20 for my losses today because "they were barnyard chickens... just white barnyard chickens" and I'll be having to go to court to proove how much money I spend to get the Coros and how much I could have made off breeding them.

The stress of it all is keeping me up. Sorry for the random vent.

thanks for the kind words, guys....

yes, I got he sheriff's dept out twice in one day. And I did take photos of everything, though, most the bodies get picked up and tossed by the dog owner. That's why this is the third time and only the first time I had proof, thanks to another neighbor being outside when it happened. He saw it happen and of course the dog owner says it didn't.

The dog owner says she gets strays dumped on her ... we live on a private dead end road... no she doesn't get anything DUMPED on her... or we all would. She said that she wasn't paying more than $20 for barnyard chickens, so yes... I'm taking her to court. If I don't get my money, the court and her are getting a lesson is hatchery vs. breeder and domestic bred vs imported.

Is there a leash law in your area? Maybe he broke the law.

No. We don't even have building codes in my county. It's nice until you have a neighbor like this. One thing that works for me is loss of "livestock"... you don't mess with livestock out here... it's the worst sin. So there is no leash law but there is the unwritten rule that your dogs can run, but they can't mess with anyone elses animals. Which is dumb because eventually a running dog WILL mess with livestock, but somehow it makes them feel better to not have a actual leash law.

I'm rambling. It's late.

Here if a dog messes with livestock (including chickens) it can be shot.
