The Sussex thread!

Hey does anyone on this Sussex thread know of a really good breeder of Speckled Sussex that are not hatchery stock and are bred to Standard and purity of the breed? Thanks for any replies to help! Looking for eggs or chicks. - Jenn, RevolutionMama Ranch

I love my speckled sussex and think that they are the prettiest hens in my flock. They have nice personalities, also. Not too shy or skittish, non aggressive, inquisitive, friendly and talkative.

Here is a chick that is approx 4-5 wks old:

This is "Speckles"--she is always looking to see if I have a treat for her. It's hard to take a picture because she keeps getting in the way

She is the hen yard gossip and talks to me the whole time I am out with them.

I love these Speckled Sussex -- my chicks are coming in April -- it was hard choosing, but Speckled Sussex were tops on my list.

Hey Revolutionmama,

I bought my Light Sussex from Debra at hodgesfarms.net and she had a lot of speckled Sussex chicks at that time. Her farm was very clean and was a pleasure to do business with. Try her if your looking for speckled thats not hatchery stock.
