The Sussex thread!

We found her remains this morning in the back field. She must have wandered off and something got her. She was the largest out of our chickens so now we are going to put a cover over the run on our new coop so no others fly out. It's just sad because she was so sweet, and today our EE has been looking depressed because one of her hatch mates was Pox (the SS).

Does anyone know where to get speckles sussex's at this time of the year in Missouri?

One of the older hens sounded an alarm and Evangeline hopped around the yard like this for a few minutes. She was our blue-ribbon winner a month ago, but her tail has seen better days, poor thing.

Our hen, Dumpling just finished her molt. she is SO speckled now! she is pretty! I will have to get before/after photos I didn't think she was ever going to get heavily speckled.

Does anybody here own roosters? Are they supposed to be speckled? My rooster doesn't seem to be.

I'll have to dig for a "before" photo. her feathers are still growing in I believe buit look at that wing and head speckles!!

My boy is moderately speckled. His three hens are hardly speckled at all, but the two pullets are just covered.
