In they went! Set them in Saturday evening. Now the long wait to see what we end up with in 3 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed please!
I am curious to know how this went? I currently have 9 Light Sussex eggs in the incubator that I set last night. I just read through this ENTIRE thread - it took me almost two weeks lol! Hope you had/are having success, so sorry about the loss of your hens. My Jack Russell terrier was a certified chicken killer - she once got in the farm owners coop and killed all his chickens. I worked with her from then, and she now accompanies me to the chickens without paying too much attention to them. What worked with her was her obsession with a ball. I would walk her to the chickens with the ball in my hand - she was so fixated on the ball that she didn't pay the chickens any attention! I then started playing ball with her in the chicken yard (My heart was racing the first time, as her two obsessions were chickens and chasing balls... It was a 50/50 gamble on which she would go for) Thankfully the ball obsession was the biggest, and I'm happy to say that after a few weeks of doing this, she ignores the big chickens - even sniffed one hen's butt the other day, as in "hello, what's your name?" lol. She is still a bit fixated on the chicks, but I am working on it.

Sorry... This was a bit off topic. Just wanted to share

Unfortunately not one egg hatched. I do have a few chicks ordered to come in about two weeks. I really wanted to hatch eggs though. I'm planning to order more chicks in a few weeks, want to stagger them a bit so I dont have to wait till October again with no eggs.

So sorry to hear they didn't hatch

Yay for chicks though! My 9 Light Sussex eggs eggs are on their 3rd day of incubation now, and I really hope they hatch as I've been looking for Light Sussex in Cape Town forever! Finally tracked down these 9 eggs after a year!

Can any one tell me a good respectable Speckled Sussex heritage breeder in or close to ohio.
