The Sussex thread!

My 4 wk old Speckalds.... CB&Jeffie.... My daughter who is 16 named them after her and her bf.... If Jeffie (the one with the lighter head) gets out of CBs sight she goes Crazy squaking.... I've never seen such!! I call them trouble n trouble!!

I had bought SS on a whim about 2 years ago. They have a great personality, so now I have 2 more 10 weekers. They certainly like food. Is it common for them to have huge crops? Seems the older ones as well as the 10 week olds have these large hanging crops when full.

I have a customer who has a Sussex....she said they are prone to crop issues bc they gorge... My Jeffie had sour crop/impacted crop at a week... I think she ate a pine chip that started it....her crop finally went down, I thought she had stretched it....

Dotty and her sister (obviously not blood)

How the heck do you get those pictures? If I get that close to my girls or kneel down to get an angled shot, they come running over. Makes it hard to get shots like this. Do you have a Super Sekrut Speckled Sussex Photo Trick?
Love your birds! Ain't SS great? They have such amazing personalities.

Thank you! Mine are just really use to my phone now! I usually take pics after feeding too which helps lol. And yes SS's are such great characters! Dotty is such a nice bird, would deffo have another after her! Have a Light Sussex too, she is hilarious to watch. She is really untame and at the bottom of the pecking order. When me or another hen goes near her she spreads her wings out and does the broody scream. You should hear the racket she makes if anyone goes in when shes laying!
