The Sussex thread!

Hi everyone! I'm looking for help sexing. :p She's supposed to be a pullet, but she appears to be somewhat manly looking, to us at least. Any guesses? 10 weeks old yesterday.
Looks like a little boy with the color and no tail, but the comb is pretty small/light for 10 weeks.

Thanks, Naliez! I've read earlier in the thread about this being a tough breed to sex. I'm hoping she's not a he, since I already have 1 roo and 1 for sale. Three will definitely be a crowd, lol

Jujubara - That's a pullet.

Thanks. This Sussex is a beauty. I'm feeling pullet, but her tail is so short. And her legs are so thick. She actually had a big growth spurt this week, but comb and waddles haven't changed so far.

Here's "Ford" at 5 weeks. It's comb is darker pink than usual because we chased him/her around a bit before we were able to catch him/her. Generally the comb is pink at the base and yellow on the tips.
Only one tail feather to speak of. Hoping it turns out to be a girl of course. But I'll wait till it either crows or lays an egg.

ShamrockMommy,

Nice! It would help to see the entire bird. My limited experience is that by 5 weeks you should be able to tell if it's a pullet or cockerel. Body shape and feathering helps. The head looks like a pullet.
