The vet killed Kiwi!

Something similar happened here locally, and the vet had kept the dog (it was alive). When he was caught, he claimed that he felt the dog was abused and was ONLY trying to protect it. YEAH RIGHT! Definitely ask for the body (to at least see it)!
Blessings,
Amy J.

I know. I'm trying to get the courage to go get her. But then I'll have to find a box and burry her so nothing can dig her up. I just don't know if I can do it by myself!

I worked at a vet for 4 years. There were certain instances where the vets would require blood work before sedation, and more often then not the owners would make a big stink about it. Unfortunately, when anesthesia is concerned, there is always a risk whether your animal or human.

Yes I found that true as well..the owners would throw a big fit a lot of times. Now at the vet I take my animals to they make you sign a waiver stating you don't want the blood work done and if your pet dies it's on you not them. They do recommend having it done though. I love my vet...she is the most caring vet I had ever been to. I travel almost an hour to see her. We moved since we started seeing her and I was not going to change.

I'm sorry you lost your little Kiwi.

She was awfully cute. My condolences to you and your mom.

We just buried our Golden (he died of old age last year, the whole family carried him out of the vets office crying our eyes out! Even hubby had tears rolling) in our back yard woods area and we put a few large rocks on top of his grave so nothing would come dig him out. I think we dug the hole about 3-4 feet deep. Nothing ever tried to dig him up. My pom laid on his grave though for two days

Poor baby! He really missed his buddy.

OMG. They gave me a paper to sign saying it was ok to sedate her! They didn't say there were tests we could run or that there was any other option at all. I feel so stupid!

I am so sorry, it does happen..but I too would ask to have the body returned. Small dogs - ecspecialy that small- dont tolerate stuff like that well...but having a broken leg so small, someone at the vets may think they are doing the dog a favor and steal it.

It's not an easy thing to do but, you do need to do it to see for yourself that she has passed. Even if you trust the vets telling the truth you will get better closure this way.
