And I had to include this one, just cuz it's too cute.

Thank you. But I can't take credit for them, they were Nancy's (bargain) work. I just raised them.

They grow so fast. But now I'm getting eager for those dark eggs!

Honestly I do not like Fiesty's color, her color looks too uniform all over instead of three different colors that is contracted. Too dark of neck feathers which it should be yellowish and the back should be brown in color, she is too light. It looks like a throwback in color. If I had a Wellie looking like that, I would simply use her as an egg layer, nothing more or sell her to a good home. Is her sister the same color?

Other than that, I bet she lays dark eggs! Enjoy her!

Her sister's pics are on pg 49, Cleopatra. Feisty doesn't have much black around her neck and she is more uniform in color compared to Cleopatra. But I'm not using her for breeding, just my own pleasure for colorful eggs. Besides, that's how I tell them apart.

I've gotten 3 eggs now- one every other day. I'm assuming this means it's only one girl laying. The first one was speckled, the next 2 nice and dark!

I'm a little worried about my roosters- they don't look as "round" as some of the others I have seen. They are more long & lean. I know they're healthy- they crow all day long, lead the girls to food, and all that stuff. Very sweet, gentle guys. When do they really fill out?

Mine went from lanky to bulky at around 7 months. I've been really pleased with how my Wellie roos get along, treat their girls and respect my space.

They are just such nice birds. Mine aren't "cuddly" or anything, but they don't run from me either. And the roos aren't agressive at all. I hope they stay that way!
I'm still waiting for my girls to fill out too. I was really surprised that one started laying because she seems so small. I guess I got spoiled with my giant orps and cochins

Well I should have knocked on wood when I made this post. The two roos got into a fight last night while I was in the barn. It was a fairly even match as they are both identical in size and height. Their coloring is identical too so I told them apart by counting the points on their combs. One has 5 points and the other had 6. Now they both have 5 points and both are missing patches of feathers here and there. Now I'll have to tell them apart by whether or not there is a gap between their 2nd and 3rd points.

On the good side, when I went into the Wellie pen to break up the fight they submitted to "the big roo" quickly and were done with it. It wasn't like the fights between the RIR or Marans roos where I end up getting bitten or spurred before I can get them separated.
