The Welsummer Thread!!!!

NCSprout,

Congrats on that first Wellie egg but I'm also very impressed with that Lakenvelder egg. That egg is huge compared to my Lake eggs.

My girl only started laying last Monday.
Her eggs appeared late afternoon on these days:

Monday 1 egg
Tuesday1 egg
Wednesday Nothing
Thursday 1 egg
Friday 1 egg
Saturday Nothing

So she seems to be laying for 2 consecutive days, then having a rest.

I'm guessing as her body gets going, she'll settle to one a day. Is that what you have experienced with yours?

Thanks again everybody, I am really proud of her.

That egg is huge compared to my Lake eggs.

They are still small eggs, I think maybe the angle of the shot made it look bigger. The lakenvelder eggs don't fill up the cups in my egg carton, but i do like my lakenvelder girls, they've been giving me an egg everyday for at least a month.

Congratulations on your girl starting to lay!

Her laying pattern sounds very normal to me, 4 in a week from one pullet is very good. Kudos to her!

edited to add: 3 of my girls are also late afternoon layers. The other girl lays in the morning hours.

To all of our WCNA members, a heads up about the message I've sent about the domain names for the WCNA. The Webs didn't accept WCNA.com, WCNA.net, WCNA.org and anything with WCNA so we are all looking for suggestions from our members and Nate and I will pick a selection of the club domain name and let the members vote.

Here are a few:

Welsummers.com
WelsummersUSA.com
WelsummersUS.com
WelsummerCNA.com
WelsummerCofNA.com
WCofNA.com
WelsummerClubUSA.com
WelsummerClubNA.com

Your inputs please?

Yes that is a Welsummer egg...I was inside of a galvanized metal structure and I used my flash inside that structure to take the picture because it was a little dark in the nest box area. Ever used a flash inside of a shiny metal building...a small shiny metal building? You get lots of glare and lots of flash.

Here is that egg in the second row from the left, second egg from the front. That row is all Welsummer eggs.
