At almost 8 months of age and 1.5 months behind the rest of the flock, our wellie has finally started laying and we had our first 5 for 5 egg day today! Soooooo happy and love the contrast of that dark egg!

Hello, I am from Oklahoma and have lurked on BYC for a few years now. Registered last year and continued to lurk, but am anxious to become involved in the exchange of information on this thread. I joined the WCNA on their website, and am looking ahead to the future happenings with the breed. And just wanted to jump in here as a new Welsummer enthusiast and keeper. My very first Welsummers were hatched on the second day of February 2012 from eggs shipped to me from Washington state. Seventeen chicks from 24 eggs, my best ever hatch from shipped eggs. Looking forward to my forthcoming experiences with the breed. I am likely one of the older members of the BYC, but know I will never be too old to learn about a new breed. Have had birds for the greater part of 60 years and am always learning something new.

Just wanted share pic of some Bantam welsummers I hatched out earlier this week. Trying to decided if I want to hatch out any more this year.
