Great sweet huge dogs.
I have a Dal that is one GREAT dog!
He is a beauty in motion

My dane is an old girl at 8 1/2 she has arthritis but she is hanging in there.
I do not want another dane though....She has been great, but I have had several in rescue and the breed has really suffered due to BAD breeding.
This is my Harley Girl

I missed last night but hope to catch tonight. I am a past owner/handler of my Springer Spaniel so I was thrilled to see James from 2 yrs. ago win. I saw him in RI and is just a sight to see. It would be nice to see something other than the Pek win, but it is the one that comes the closest to the breed standard.
Now, I will say, don't knock the standard poodle. Those are some awsome dogs. You don't have to keep them clipped like you see in the shows.
I love Beagles too, so you go UNO!!!

What time does it start tonight?

Has anyone actually ever shown there? By the time the groups are being shown the rings are huge. Earlier in the day when the breeds are being shown the rings are the size of postage stamps!

I have Siberian Huskies, so a larger ring will show off a really nice moving dog. There are many faults that can be hidden in a small ring in our breed.

I'm rooting for the Siberian, of course! The breed winner is a very nice bi... OOPS - I mean female dog

. Since I don't have TV I've been following the show on the Westminster website. There's a beautiful Australian Shepherd that won the Group, as well, so I wouldn't mind seeing her win, either!!!

I show my Scotties in conformation, and I'm happy to report that my girls' sister, Ch. Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot (Sadie), was Best of Breed and took a Group II last night! She's currently the #1 Scottish Terrier in the country, all systems.

My Teagan (Ch. Anstamm Let's Party CD RA) has the same father as Sadie, Ch. Anstamm Like A Rock. My Peach (Anstamm Maryscot First Blush) shares the same mother with Sadie, Ch. Maryscot Painted Black. Peach's father is also Sadie's grandfather.

Those of us in Sadie's "family" are very proud and pleased.

Thanks, it's pretty cool! She's a lovely grump and she's lucky enough to be owned by a wealthy owner who can put her out with a very good handler. You know how that goes. I wish she could have taken the group, but I'm not surprised that the Sealy did...the Sealy is very deserving.

Hey, do not be picking on standard poodles! I think they are one of the least overbred overextreme-d breeds out there.

I am SO SO not a purebred, dogshow kind of person, AT ALL... but if I were ever to get a purebred dog, on the basis of all the various dogs I've known over the years I would get a standard poodle, absolutely.

As someone else pretty much said, it's not THEIR fault their mommas give them funny haircuts
wink.png
They are also very 'catlike' dogs in many ways, without being non doglike -- sort of the best of both worlds

The miniature and toy poodles are a totally different thing altogether. No offense meant

Pat, opposed to purebred dog breeding for most purposes, but admitting that the standard poodle people seem to have messed up a whole lot less than most other breeds, no offense meant to aficionados of any other particular breeds
