The Worst Predator Ever

I too am sorry to hear about this .. How can anyone find fun in something so wrong and cruel

Recently I suffered from a very similar issue.. Mine was slightly different though..The kid who did it was 4 years old.. he went down to my chickens in my garden broke off the padlock on my run ..smashed the sliding door on the pop hole with a hammer and let my 3 pure breed light sussex get savaged by the dog that was with him.

My mum phoned the police because i wasnt around at the time .. As he was so young nothing was done, except the "scare" of the police for doing wrong ..

I think anyone who trespasses and causes damage on someone elses property should get punished no matter what age ..In my case the parents should also be punished

I think some people just need a good slapping .. Thats the problem with many generations in my opinion, dicapline is no where to be seen in some cases..

Again im sorry for your loss and I hope that the people who did it get what they deserve in the long run

I wish you well with this situation. I worked at an elementary school which had a chicken coop. It was a very sturdy roofed coop; the door was padlocked and it was surrounded by a six foot chain link fence, the gate to which was also padlocked. Unfortunately, this school was in the middle of town. We arrived one Monday to find that someone, probably teenagers from the surrounding area, had broken into the coop and had slaughtered all the chickens (about a dozen). It made the newspapers and TV in that area because the chicken project had been funded by a grant written by one of our teachers, as a learning experience for the students. They never caught the kids who did it, although the police took it very seriously. We did rebuild the coop and someone in the area donated more chickens, but it is horrible to think that people can enjoy watching innocent animals or birds being slaughtered.

Couseling is probably not enough. ALL those boys should be prosecuted and placed on probation at least. The ones whose parents do not feel that they did anything wrong, CPS needs to investigate, and may well need to remove the boys from the environment that condones such behavior. These boys committed a number of felonies and criminal misdemeanors. Not the least of which was trespass and theft, criminal vandalism and criminal abuse of animals. Then there is the monetary injury to you.

As horrifying as it would be if they did this to their own animals, they did this to another person's property. Monetary sanctions should be insisted upon; the courts will not take away so much money at one time that they cannot eat--if they are that poor, the money awarded may take years to be repaid, and maybe that is a better lesson than if they pay and forget. It is also a lesson to them that the cost of things is not always apparent--they should pay the full worth of the birds--even if it takes a decade or three to pay it off.

The prevailing attitude in the South seems to be "boys will be boys". Not all mind you, but far too many. I work at a prison and deal with these "boys" all the time.

Sounds like BIG $$$$$ to me. Perhaps billing the parents, lawsuit if necessary, might make them care a little more. I know it won’t make you feel any better but it might teach them a lesson.

What I would like to do would probably land you / me in jail.

There is no way I would let the sheriff try and sweep it under the rug. I would file charges and take it to court all the way. I agree those kids don't need counseling and a slap on the wirst, they need to be held accountable for their actions 100%.

How Horrifying !!!!!! I am sick. I would strongly suggest going public with this. Go to every network that you can, contact to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN try to get them to do a story on this and on how the Michael Vick thing isn't getting thru to kids. Make a huge effort to throw a spotlight on this issue. You might also want to contact the National Humane Society. This is really sick and people need to be aware that whoever did this is on the way to violence against people, this is the first step. Please keep us all informed. Actually, we could all band together and pressure the media to do something about it. This is too big to just handle at the local sheriffs level. I am sooooooo angry and sad for you.

Public exposure is what this situation needs in order to force justice to be done and laws to be changed.

You can't get the medias attention right now. Theres oil out there, didn't you know? You might get their attention if you tell the media that you were raising the birds specifically for the feathers to help clean up Bee Pee.
