Noisy little buggers they were, too!
I sold those columbians from last year [IMG]
You still have any sl bantams? I need a cockerel...
Let me know later this week how many of the black chicks you have hatched out so I know how much cash to bring with me. I'm not looking for blk bantams or LF blues, though. [IMG]

I thought you told me you wanted the blues too??? I kept last weeks and didn't line up anyone this week.

Anyone looking for good quality LF Blue Wyandotte chicks to ship tomorrow?

I'm wondering if I just start a new thread for the GLW's? I am trying to find good colored stock. Since most of the stock out there are hatchery birds, what are the common faults and how do you go about breeding out those particular faults. All of you that have GLW's, can you post their pictures?

    The search continues.......

Quote:The GLWs need a ton of work, but you could start out with Duane Urch for pretty good birds. I think the type needs the most work, but you can help that by crossing a SQ SLW on them.

Here are a few pics of our LF GLW. They really did not want their pics taken, so they thought they would run around & curl up, hoping I would go away. Not! So last but not least I got the Stink Eye from the cock! Like that would make me leave, I know he doesn't have a mean bone in his body, throwing dirty looks is as bad as he gets! lol

Can anyone show me pictures of what a patridge chick might look like color- pattern wise right after hatching?

    Thanks!

Well, to put a positive spin on that situation. Between the two of us there are probably more SP hatched out this season than anywhere in the country in the last 10 years....So maybe we can make some improvement on my most favorite variety [IMG]

Mrs Turbo, where does one read on how to go about doing 'chicken breeding'?

Would I use a SQ Cockeral or a hen SLW for the improvement in type of a GLW? I did read somewhere in one of the breeds that there were two separate lines to get a rooster of the line for the Standard and a different way to breed to get the show standard for the hen, so I am finding the whole chicken breeding a bit overwhelming.

Is a 'trio' 2 hens and a rooster?

Is there a color gene involved in the White to Gold breeding like there is with the blues and the blacks?

I don't suppose there is a handbook on how to breed the different colors of Wyandottes? Seems to me some of you long time breeders need to become e-book authors!

Thanks, I do appreciate everyone's help on teaching up newbies.

I have lockdown coming up Friday on my staggered hatch of Wellies. Here's hoping the Post office wasn't too rough on this latest batch of shipping eggs.

Any hints on how to lure a broody hen off her nest would be greatly appreciated. I got 2 away from her today, but I know she has 15 eggs under her that are supposed to be my eating eggs over the last 5-6 days!! She's put all the fertilized ones around the outside and is really hiding the newer ones in deep!

Cheers all, it's been a real tough day--hubby spent 6 hours undergoing chemo and it sapped all our energy. It's going to be a really long week with the after-effects.

    Bonnie
