Yes! Camera's are great for picking up what the naked-eye can't see, aren't they?!?! I understand about not wanting to watch over babies through the winter also. It got down to 45 degrees here last night and is supposed to get down to 39 degrees tonight. With those temps., I'm panicking about the grown and teen chickens let alone little chicks! I think I'd be a nervous wreck!

You are so right! There really is nothing cuter than a Blue Orpington chick! They are so fluffy and sweet!

The best part about them is that they stay that way once they're grown too.

39 isn't so bad. We are looking at possible frost tonight and diffinate frost tomorrow night. Our cold weather is just starting. I'm not wintering any chicks either. Not with our freezing cold temps.

I woke up to frost on the windows this morning, and I still have one hen setting, and one that just hatched, plus idk how many eggs in the bator!!

I can believe it Kitty! That's why I don't want to move back to the West. It's way to cold for my liking now! I've been spoiled by the mostly mild winters here in the south-east. I don't miss the 8 to 9 months of bitterly cold winters and mounds of snow. I used to, but the last few years I've really come to enjoy the lack of snow most of the winter. We do have snow occasionally, but we get more warm weather here than we do cold. We only have to deal with 4 to 5 months of cold and then we are back on track with warm.

Oh, Cyn! They are just the cutest things. NOTHING in the animal world is as cute as a day old orpington chick! I love looking at their rounded fluffy little bodies standing on those thin little legs.

Cyn, I just saw the pics and wanted to tell you how gorgeous the little ones are (and mama too). Brrrr, that is chilly. That reminds me I have to start hooking up the water heaters and timers in the coops. ugh..that time of year again. We're dropping into the 30's too, according to the weather station. I'm hoping they're wrong as usual, but we have been running 5 or more degrees below normal for a while now. Good luck with the little ones - I'm sure you won't have any problems finding them cuties a new home.

It probably wouldn't hurt. Extra comfort for her will help make her a better mom. It will also serve as a backup for the little ones.
