We had so many eggs laid they were piling up. My husband boiled them and said feed them to your pets. They will eat their own eggs. At least these were unfertilized. They would probably not care either way. Gobbling them down. Ducks would not touch.

Weirdest thing mine ate were coffee grounds

I always put the coffee grounds from the french press out on the compost heap. And they SWARM me to scarf up what they can before I mix it in with the poo n stuff. I guess they need their morning caffeine fix too.

cig butts. yup..they would pick them up and trying to get them out of their beaks was tough, they'd just swallow them, I noticed the area around the shop and parking was totally clean...I waited, figuring they'd get croupbound and die, but they didn't, I noticed some piles of fluffy poops and they did ok. they must have kicked the habit though cause I noticed butts lying around again and don't seem interested anymore thankfully..

That would be gross, but I wish mine would get the field mice stealing their food all the time.

We had just put our three week old chicks into their new run so they were exploring every nook and cranny. Well, one of my Red Stars rousted out a huge brown garden spider (at least 3 inches diameter) and went chasing and pecking it across the run. The spider couldn't get away so it tried another strategy - it wrapped itself around my chicks head and hung on for dear life! You should have heard her - she squeeled like the little girl she is and started slamming her beak on the ground trying to "get this thing off me!" Well, she finally got the spider to turn loose but when it ran again, the 20 other chicks was just too much for it and they had it for brunch. But, what a learning experience!
