Things you never said until you had chickens.......

HEDWIG!!!!! (Walking to the coop at feeding time, she can't wait so flies out, landing in the dishes and spilling everything.)

Also at feeding time: Greybeard, get OFF my HEAD! If you want me to take you down to the house to eat, get on my shoulder! (Head roo doesn't let him eat much so I spoil greybeard by taking him down to the house sometimes. There's a few inches of ice on the ground these days so he's decided my shoulder is the best means of traversing the yard )

I have a nut-so Hedwig too!! We have had screaming contests, chases, tackles for food and much more... She keeps me on my toes. :D

I saw! Named after harry potter's owl, too? My Hedwig is white, bearded, owl-like in stature and VERY clever! She's also the best flier of the girls. We don't have squawking matches although she does maul me on a regular basis!

I'm planning to move my chickens into a spare coop into the garage on Saturday night because we're supposed to get to 40 below and I just have 4 chickens. My husband asks me, "What are you going to do, carry the chickens to the garage?"
My response,
"Well, I guess so because I doubt that they will follow me."

Quote: Yes!!! My Hedwig (I call her Hettie) is a Barred Rock--she's VERY loud and she has an EXTREMELY high pitched squawk. Sometimes it makes your ears ring if she can really get it out... She is VERY bossy--the youngest but somehow made it up to the top of the pecking order (on my four pullets) she's still below my three hens. (I have three 3 year old hens and 4 not-quite-1-year-old pullets)

Rofl! Names are a funny thing. Hedwig also turned out to be completely independent, going wherever whenever SHE wants! The BA that I named Emerald ,because her green sheen was noticeably more brilliant than my other BA, turned out to be an ameracauna x; I found out the day I busted her as the green egg-layer! Did not know this when I named her :gig
