Sharing your specialized knowledge is great. Up to a point. Here's an illustration of that point.

1) Hey Doc, can you look at my arm... do I need stitches?

2) Hey Doc, I cut my arm. Can you sew it up for me?

I would think an honest answer, yes or no to #1, no charge, to not be out of line. I would expect to pay for #2.
