Things you wish you could say

It's a shame that don't don't understand why you saying these things about me hurts me. I can't imagine saying stuff like this to a person everyday thrn being shocked when they say they are very insecure. I guess you don't have common sense...
What they lack is empathy.

No idea about my dad. I was only 7 months old when he passed away, so I never knew him, but my mom would think that I didn't accomplish nearly enough in my life. I never became a concert pianist or a doctor, or a lawyer, or some other prestigious career. Think Tiger Mom.
My mom was like this. I don't know if she wanted me to be a doctor, a lawyer, a brain surgeon or what, she never would say. But she did say things like, "you could be anything you put your mind to!" with great rage. I once asked her what she wanted me to be. She said she just wanted me to be happy. I told her, "I'm a wife, a mother and a dog trainer, Mom. Read my lips. I AM happy." But she just made a disgusted noise and turned away. That's when I realized there was nothing I could do to make HER happy, and that my happiness was quite enough.

My mom was pretty typical for a Japanese woman from her generation. She expected perfection. I remember her lecturing me for TWO HOURS about why was there a - on my A in PE.

I think that attitude is part of why the suicide rate is so high among Japanese students.

Wish I could say I'm doing good today.
You can do good! Give a sandwich to a homeless person. Walk an old lady across the street!

(I hope this made you laugh a bit. I think you meant doing well, but it always makes me laugh a bit when people get doing well vs. doing good mixed up.)

I threw someone's ball back in their yard. It almost didn't go in, and it barely bounced back into the yard.

And then I got sick the next day.

Sigh.

What I didn't mention is that I had a bad cough that day. Presumably I was already sick. Oops.
