I have a different approach to these calls. As soon as they are done their first part of the spiel, I ask them to tell me all about it. Then I put the phone down on the desk or whatever, without hanging up, and wait to see how long it takes them to figure it out. They waste my time. I waste theirs.

Funny that I brought up scammers earlier today. One spoofed my friend's account and messaged me on FB. I knew it wasn't my friends, so I had a bit of fun.

I really can't understand why anyone does this. Too much time on your hands? Why don't you put your "skills" to something positive?
I don't think you can possibly appreciate the emotional stress this creates. I hope you rot in ... what ever is the worst possible scenario you can think of!

somone did this to my elderly freinds account, the said they wanted us to go buy google pay cards, take photos of them, and send them to him.

One positive side to the story is that one of her friends was asked to buy gift cards from a major drug store chain. She was questioned by staff about such a large sum for cards, and then the staff refused to sell them to her. Nice to see some corporation, and it's staff, being so socially responsible
