Things you wish you could say

Dear Wife and I did have company at that time of the first violation. But nobody fesses up to downloading anything. They all have their own cell phones with unlimited data plans, so probably not them anyway.

Not worth my time or effort to hire a lawyer. I'd rather do without our internet from our ISP and just get a cell phone with unlimited data. I'm just upset for getting banned from my internet service for something I myself did not violate.
Just because you get unlimited data doesn't mean that you hotspot and have unlimited data. Usually your cell phone company will limit the amount of data you can use as a hotspot. Check your contract carefully. For example, my cell provider allows unlimited data, but only 5GB of hotspot data. I had to choose a plan that allowed that much. The standard unlimited data plan doesn't include hotspot data usage.

Thanks for heads up. I thought unlimited was unlimited. Guess I have a lot to learn before I dump my ISP. Don't want to shoot myself in the foot despite what they have done to me. Like I said, I live out in the country, and we only have one provider. No competition here.

That is exactly what I am afraid of, and I why I posted a rant on this thread. I'm really paying for a crime I did not commit.
We don't know / can't tell which computer it came from, we don't trace it that far but we KNOW IT WAS YOU! Id talk to a lawyer at this point, that is pure BS. If you got a letter saying your router password was compromised THAT right there is all it could take, someone gets in, puts a bot on your system and voila this stuff happening.

Id sue them, and then sue the company who gave your data out and have your computer reinstalled. They can back up pictures and stuff like that, but have it wiped and a fresh install, that way if there is anything that got placed on it it's gone.

Hearing this just infuriates me as I know what is going on here and the dirt baggery in the customer support area of the company. They KNOW you don't have a choice so don't care. Get with your phone company, don't tell them you are having problems with this one, but let them pitch you as if they are taking you from someone and see if they give you a deal on your hot spot.

Let me rant on State Farm. I had insurance on a house for many years, then we had weather damage in something like 2 times in 3 years, so they cancelled my policy. I asked them why they cancelled my policy and they said they paid out more in claims then they were taking in on payments. When I challenged them about the law that says you cannot cancel a policy if the damage is related to weather conditions you have no control over, they said they did not care. State Farm sure was nice to me all those years I paid my insurance premiums without any claims. They showed what they are really like when I needed them.
I was a loyal customer of them for 30 years, got the same treatment, dumped them like the cancer they are. They did a number in florida too, after andrew, left so many people w/o insurance, just said a big %^ U and cancelled everyone. Then some years later want to come back with a big smile like they are everyone's friend. If you have relatives in the military, see if you can get in with USAA. So far they did me very well, even when it was my fault for hitting the parking ballard :😊:

Know what you mean. It's sinful.
I had Allstate for 30 years because my family had them for years before that.
When my house was totaled in Katrina they paid $7000. :th
We had similar issues with State Farm……they refused to replace roof from storm damage using all kinds of bs excuses and only pd out 8k and 1 night hotel when pipe froze and burst flooding whole house :th

Roof are another they love to play games on. When it's about 10 years old they will send you a letter, your roof is getting old,we will give you a year to replace it, otherwise your premium is going up a LOT! If you don't replace it, not only will they tag you for a ton of extra money, if you do have an issue with it, they will then say, well it was deficient, we told you that, you did nothing, so we will not cover it, (although they sure took the money to cover it and thensome!!)

Pretty much all of them, I have heard horror stories about, it's just like car salesman, you can't find an honest one anywhere, them, insurance agents, are all slimy.

That is what I am thinking at this point. I certainly have no loyalty to my current ISP who offered no help in resolving this issue and just dumped me when it was easier for them. You would think that 30+ years of paying for telephone/internet/tv service from them would have built up some kind of goodwill towards me. But even after I asked them to help with this issue, because I knew I was not the violator, they basically could care less and banned me. To make it more idiotic, I was allowed to reopen an internet account the same day in Dear Wife's name, but not mine, even though they know full well that Dear Wife and I live in the same house.

Sadly I have found that you are a relic. There is no such thing as loyalty anymore, companies don't care like they used to, like they did back when we were young. You are not even a number in a ledger, they don't even care about you that much. At best, you are an annoyance that they have to put up with to keep the money flowing in. Now throw in some sorry kid who wants 20 dollars an hour to spend 45 minutes of that hour updating their fakebook profile, and really does not want to deal with you annoying crybabies, and you begin to see the 'quality' of what they call customer service.

You could try their own game back on them, goto Fakebook, Twatter, etc and tell your story briefly and push it viral. BIG EVIL CORPORATION picking on old people. Give them a taste of their own medicine. In this world of $#%^$$# ies and $#%$$# ies... PR is a HUGE thing, that is one thing no company wants is bad PR period! Been loyal customer for XX years, won't help me, dumped me, now stuck W/O internet to keep in touch with family. With Covid restrictions, if someone gets sick, how will I be able to say my last goodbye's since they cancelled my contact with the outside world?? Spin it, spin it hard... lay on the drama, that's what these parakeet minded people seem to love today....give them a taste of cancel culture from your point of view, see how THEY like it.

In your eyes that sounds despicable, as it really should, but sadly in this culture we live in, the only way to get people to do the right thing anymore seems to be to embarrass or shame them into it. They treated you like total dirt, don't be afraid to give them a taste of it back. If you can get a local news outlet involved, even better.

Heck you should do a scan, see if any of your neighbors have an open WiFi connection
Firstly, when I turn on my computer, sometimes I see another wifi connection other than mine listed. I'm guessing it's my neighbor's...? So I'm thinking that they can see mine. My question is, without knowing each other's passwords, are these accessible? I'm assuming not, but you know what happens when you assume. Sorry if that is a dumb question... BTW, I do trust my neighbors. Thank goodness

Secondly, I'm wondering what will happen if we ever have a major claim with State Farm? We've had some car damage claims, but nothing on the house. Everything we have is insured by them.

Thirdly, I'm glad for this rant thread where people can say things they wish they could say. It really helps. And people (like @Ascholten) have been helpful. Thanks, everyone, for keeping this a civil discourse where we can all get things off our chests.
