Make sure it's a legit email. That's a common phishing scam.

DW got an email today, allegedly from the DMV saying she over payed, with a link.
I'm sure if she clicked on it they would offer to refund it to her bank account which they just needed the number for.

I had one, I just put the phone on speaker and laid it down and let them talk to the Cockatoo. He LOVES the phone !!!

By this time I usually get a few more hello's and then a hangup, as paco starts warbling at the voice coming out of that black square thingie I laid on the bottom of his perch area.

Worse case, he orders something... good luck collecting from a bird!

I watch YouTube channels like Kitboga, Trilogy Media, Pleasant Green and ScammerPayback. It took awhile for me to be in a mentally healthy enough place to watch and sometimes I get flashbacks but I still enjoy them.

Often they waste the scammer's time for hours coming up with a whole cast of characters and scenarios to distract them, extract data from the scammers they can pass on to the authorities, mess with the scammers' computers or in some instances actually track them down and confront them. They even got a lady's money back for her and helped an ex scammer reform with a legitimate business. Top quality trolling whilst explaining how the scam works. Kitboga in particular is so good he can play 3 characters at once and have entire conversations with both himself and the scammer with voice changers and sound effects, like a radio show. Sometimes he's pretended to be ANOTHER scammer and the customer/mark and gotten the scammer to fight over the customer with him, which has even resulted in the scammer inadvertently revealing their entire script/playbook. or bizarre circumstances like doing karaoke contests down the phone for the attention of the customer.

It gives me a bit of catharsis after losing my life savings to a scammer. The stress was indescribable as I was extorted for an entire month right before I was meant to move away from my family to be with my partner, had a nervous breakdown just dropping to my knees and self harming in public at work, lost my partner of 6 years, my cat, my home and practically everything I owned.
