Really, your fringed leather jacket from 45 years ago doesn't need to hang in the closet. Nor do the other shirts/vests/coats/jackets that you: a) never wear, and b) don't fit into anymore.

My wife kicked all my clothes out. I have some in the laundry room; some in another cabinet thing, etc.
