Things you wish you could say

In the USA, we say, " A watched pot doesn't boil," meaning if you just stand there and wait, it will seem like forever until the water boils.

In England (so I've been told), the phrase is, "A watched pot doesn't boil over," which makes more sense to me.

Like when I forgot that I left the oatmeal on high and took the dog out to go potty... :oops: Not too much mess, thank goodness.
