Things you wish you could say

To quote Mom: "Getting old is not a sin. Acting old, however, is." She lived to be 97 mentally sharp to the very end.
My Dad lived to a similar age and would wag his finger at people and say “now who are you calling an old man?”

I am guessing they would be proud and happy for you.
No idea about my dad. I was only 7 months old when he passed away, so I never knew him, but my mom would think that I didn't accomplish nearly enough in my life. I never became a concert pianist or a doctor, or a lawyer, or some other prestigious career. Think Tiger Mom.

You became you, and that’s a wonderful achievement!

I'm pretty happy with who I am. I still feel the need to do well in what I choose to do, but I'm not going to stress over not being what someone else wants me to be.
