Hi guys / Gals

i ordered a Cream Legbar Pullet to accompany my Legbar Cockrel

but after looking at many pictures

i feel My Pullet Legbar is in fact a Welsummer

i beleive they look similar but can see very slight differences

to me the differences say Welsummer

What you guys/gals think

It is probably to early to say for sure since the similarities are to close to call.

weather it be a welsummer or legbar i wont part with it now

but i do really need a Legbar so if she turns out to be a welsummer i will just pay for her and get the Legbar sent to me

:)

Let's start with this: What are the differences that lead you to believe your chick is a Welsummer?

There are lots and lots of breeds of chicks that start off with the chipmunk color pattern -- Welsummers and Cream Legbar Pullets, OEGBs, EEs, Speckled Sussexes, Phoenixes, Leghorns, Cornishes, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. If you search for pictures for each of these breeds, you could probably find one out there for each breed that looks like yours.

I don't see any features of your chick that would lead me to believe you don't have a Cream Legbar. I wouldn't worry until she drops a brown egg.

your right i should stop worring

and its not so much the brown or blue egg

but i want to bred them and needed a unrelated pair so i got a male from one breeder and female from another

and as you put it drop a brown egg [made me lol] well i dont think i would get a nice mix if i crosses a legbar to a welsummer hehe

what would i call it

a welleg ;)

If you're truly concerned, you can hedge your bets by buying another Cream Legbar pullet from a different breeder. (My solution to chicken problems always seems to be to buy more chickens. That's why I have so many.)
