Thinking of cutting hair short...

for all of us gentlemen who are going a little thin on top. we do not have LESS hair. it's just migrated south a bit for the winter. it's not our fault we are a little lower on the evolutionary chain then the ladies. we can't help the fur coat we grow and that we have a hair limit!!!

I go for a lot of layers - usually the first layer starts shoulder length, then another one 2" down, until the end of my hair (which is mid back). Less weight, and that way I can do a lot with it (curls easier, holds style etc). If I don't want to deal with it, it all goes into a pony tail.

How do you do that? My hair is longer than yours and super curly but I can never get the curl I want

Don't do it! Noooo! Save your hair!
I always had hair past my derriere growing up. I fought with my mom to keep it that way

and loved it (the hair). When I turned 18... I finally caved in to "You've got to do something different with it, at least".. and she used to be a hairdresser, so I agreed to a perm... talked into Shirley temple curls

. Well not only did I not get the ST curls, after a long discussion with the hairdresser and promises... but she burned my hair

. I put up with the frizzy, breakable, straw hair for 2 years while I tried different expensive stuff on it and wished for it to grow out. When I turned 20 and got a job I had to be very presentable for, I finally gave up and let my mom chop it off

I tried different chic type hairstyles and I was soo miserable! Had to iron it everyday because without the extra weight it was way frizzy... which of course made it more frizzy.. no matter the 6,000 expensive products. Well anyway... 2 years of that and now I'm letting it all grow out again.. no matter what it looks like in the interim. It just got a few inches away from the middle of my back and I am soo pleased! Ill be happy in like, 5 years, when I have it all back.
But the worst part of keeping it colored and such for the presentable thing? I didn't see what my real color was doing underneath.... How can I be 23 years old and have grey hair?? Waaaaaaaaa

Its growing in a really dark, not quite grey, grey... but still.... Im not even 30 and by the time I get there, I'll always have to keep it colored.

And I was born blonde *sniff*... see my page if you want to see how cute I was and my other, supposedly presentable, hair.
OK... Im done whinging now. Keep it as long as you can get it to grow. And when its short.. it gets in your face a whole lot more... theres no way to keep it back without a clip. You wake up in the morning with hair sticking up and out! The sharp little recently cut ends poke your face, your neck, and your ears. And it always has to be recently cut, or it looks a mess. You cant get it into a pony if you wanted to.. and have to resort to those clips that lodge themselves into your skull. You can't do a good hair flip after you bat your eye lashes

Your manerisms and posture change, and not for the better IMHO. See.... Im trying to talk you out of it! Run away from any and all scissors.

You'll thank me later

I have my Dorothy Hamill haircut and easy to care for.

I used to have long hair, permed and it was ok until after I had my daughter, I had it cut off. It took so long to grow.

I have worn my hair about every way hair can be worn. My hair is stick straight, thick, and not coarse. I love short hair. I love long hair. I do not like my hair anywhere in the middle of those two extremes, which unfortunately is where it's at right now.

The pixie cut and variations thereof are very popular right now. There is a variation for just about every face shape. This is the cut got last January:

I loved it and kept it that way for about nine months. Now I'm growing it back out again. Variety is the spice of life - and it's only hair. Hair grows!

I want to know as well! My hair is long, down to my rear, and I would love to try something like that with it!

that's a nice pic Ewe!

I NEVER would have cut my hair EVER. But I went from bald (chemo) to short hair now. I'm letting it grow out but I'm also enjoying the ease of shorter hair! It's about 3 inches long now and it's very interesting seeing it grow out the way it is. Right now it's very curly (naturally so) So easy to take care of. I just use a little gel to keep the curls from getting to tight. Everyone asks me where I got my haircut. How do I answer that?
