~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

So I was having troubles with large air sacs at the last week. I upped the humidity during hatch. I have several Turkeys that have moved around (eggs roll around) and a couple have externally pipped. I got the courage to see if one needed help and sure enough it did. The membrane is clinging to them. One already passed. So the one I helped still is slightly attached at the umbilical cord. What do I do with that? Secondly, there were a couple that were wiggling and are not now. Should I dig into them or is it probably to late? Since I'm having troubles, is it safe to bet the rest need help too?
It becomes a judgement call-- you can candle each one to see if all have overly large air cells. you can break a hole in the top and look and that also provides more air into hte eggs while you are deciding. I'm not sure exactly on the siutation of the umbilicus isssue, Is the yolk still out ? SOme people cover belly with salve like petroleum jelly and put in cup while it heals over. Baby will need help with food and water.

What BIG babies!! lol

Still no pips i don't think anything will hatch:hit

I am SO SORRY! Just heartbreaking! :hugs

This hatch has been greatly problematic for me too, but at least I did get some good chicks.

It still kills me that I had so many that were fertile, that did develop, but that just couldn't make it. I KNOW that that is common with shipped eggs.....and I tried to prepare myself for that kind of outcome.... But it is still super difficult. -sigh-

I really need to learn how to take pics during the day but i added a 14ft by 10ft rectangle to my garden area which was already 9ft by 8ft I should have plenty of room for the ducks I'll be trying to hatch out. But i still have to add the wood and wire i have some wire down right now to keep my dogs out of my garden but I'll have a month to finish so I'm not worried.
I added a door (it does open) but it does look weird with no other wood in the area right now

The original line was on the left of this tree

Right side of the peach tree w\ wire place holders

Pretty much the same thing but from the side

CAUTION: Weak stomach peoples look away

Before you continue this doesn't "hurt" as bad as it looks and i don't have an HD camera thank goodness

This is what happens when your verbally fighting with someone while holding a pole in place and trying to use a sledgehammer to drive the poles at the same time

AKA: a 20 pound sledgehammer to hand is a bad thing

yeah i hear you i wait till tuesday to try to open the eggs

While we're in the anxiety of waiting . . .

Here is what I had for breakfast--

olive oil in a small fry pan, with 1 snipped scallion, 1 oz chream chees cut into bits, 5 eggs from chickens and turkeys, and slowly carefully scramble leaving a few unbroken yolks. Sprinkle with 1/2 tsp salt.

Eating this good food with out an over dose of breads and cakes allows me to heavily dose all my food with salt liberally. Yum.. TOmorrow I will have this again but with butter, or tonight.

How do you eat your eggs???

I love my eggs over easy with home made hash brown (made ahead of time and froze in patties) with bacon and sausage. White gravy made with grease for bacon and sausage . lots of pepper and salt. over biscuits. and a big glass of milk... and am in heaven.....
