~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

Quote: Partly Easter, partly that the Easter Hatch athon has really collided with CDM. Usually not such an over lap. It is an Easter timing thing. lol
Yes, next year will be more like the first year, all of us trying to finish hatches, clean incubators and reset.

How are the turkey's laying? I may be begging for some after this hatch.
Plenty of eggs to offer!!!

Please add me. I just set my first duck eggs today. I know I will be late hatching but I just finished my Easter Hatch, cleaned my incubator, and set my 38 duck eggs from my backyard mix of ducks. I have been collecting these eggs for a while from two ducks but let's see what they will produce.
Good luck--- We love ducks here for their easy care. Great foragers-- I forget to put food out for them as they are always off getting grub for themselves. FOrtunately they can get pellets from amny of the chicken feeding stations if they really want. lol

What kids of ducks doyou have-- any pics??

Wish I had some turkeys... oh well, maybe someday..
Turkeys are now laying in the northern states-- a great time to get them is now. A little planning for housing and such is preferable as they need a little bigger of everything. lol

LOL-- my Almond, a muscovey, is sitting on eggs-- plan to add a few more in the morning when she gets off. SHe just lined her nest and is sticking tight so a good time to add a few from storage.
Do you always wait until they get off the nest to add more? I just lay the eggs I want them to brood near them any time and they are so "into" collecting eggs at that point, that they happily roll the eggs under them, murmuring sweet nothings to them the whole time

That way I don't have to wait and watch for them to get up and then rush out there.

Good luck finding them. My grandparents ducks would nest in the oddest places. Even odder then the chickens and guineas. One nested in the cracked corn. Another in the middle of a bale of hay.

Just candled my eggs today, had to set a few days later than everyone else. I have only 5 shipped turkey eggs developing, the sole Narrangansett egg of ours set is developing, 2 Polish eggs set are doing great and the 6 Silkie eggs I set are doing wonderful. Since I had some spare room I added 5 of my Narrangansett eggs in there now also. Talk about having a staggered hatch. Shouldn't have done that but I can not let those Narr eggs go to waste!

ARGH, and the two duck eggs are developing awesome. I always seem to forget about those!
wow can i ask you for some fertile eggs sometime
