This chicken is not dead

This is the same keet assuming the position for a good "dead nap". My foot is in its way, so I got a foot push. ***sigh***

I’m loving this thread! But it has started me thinking. Could they be playing dead because they are unhappy. Stay with me. I was informed this morning by Gene the rooster that he & his girls have had enough and want a new Mom. Whattttt! He explained that on the 4th there were fireworks until 1:30. Same thing on the 5th. Just when they thought they could trust me again hurricane Beryl came through last night.
They are convinced that I am trying to kill them. That is why I thought this was appropriate for this thread.
I have a kind of reverse thing going on here.
Any advice appreciated. Last time I checked they were painting little picket signs.

I don’t have any photos of chickens really playing dead, but my Java, Peeper, has nearly given me a heart attack before. It’s gotten super hot lately, and these super smart chickens decide to go lay in the sun in the middle of the afternoon. Every time I see one laying there I run over and start yelling their name. They usually fly up and start squawking, which completes my heart attack. 🤦‍♀️ I love these birds, but sometimes I wish they were a little bit more blessed in the brains department! Here’s little blind Gidget playing dead, not quite as good as Peeper.

P. S. Cats play dead too…very well.

She’s beautiful!
I was just out there telling my Big Butt BO to quit laying in the sun or I’d get out the hose…

This is hilarious. I am always thinking my chickens died but none of them are as good at playing dead as some on this thread. Still give me a heart attack though.
Best (sadly no picture) was the first sunny day after a long spell of gloomy rain. Five of them all dropped to the floor at the same time like they had been shot. They just really wanted to work on their tans!
