Awww soooo cute!!!

:gig

Kiki is infecting everyone:lol:

:lau

Is there a Golden Enabler award? We need to find a way to count how many critters we all have because of Kiki. I’m at four ducks and an undetermined number of quail in the bator that I blame on her! :gig

:lau probably so many LOL I am planning on hatching quail soon because of her. Wanted to get some for the HAL but I haven’t built my quail cages yet so idk if I’ll be able to. Plus I still need to get the garden started. Haven’t even started any seeds yet or fenced it or anything. at this rate I won’t even be able to plant/harvest anything lol

Awww, I love them already! :) They are lovely. I only just found out when I got the eggs what breed they are, so I need to research them. Gosh, talking about jumping in feet first?

I think they are supposed to be excellent egg layers only surprised by they hybrid layers the hatcheries developed.

So since I enabled the original balut babies AND have KCs of my own I must follow along! Anxiously awaiting first candling pics. :pop

Oh, so it's YOU I should blame for this then ;) lol Gosh, you only started something.

I'm already looking forward to the first candling session. I'm going to wait until day 7 or so though.

:lau

It was NOT intentional I swear! We we having a little taste test comparison here on BYC duck eggs vs chicken eggs vs backyard vs store bought vs quail eggs vs turkey eggs etc. and @Texas Kiki somehow accidentally ended up with balut eggs in the process and the rest is history :gig I have never hatched anything in my life!

OMG LOL

:barnie Day 7! You are going to miss so much.

Not everyone candles daily, Kiks. :lau

X2

This is awesome — More ducklings, please! @Texas Kiki, you're like one of those parasites (in a good way) that strikes as soon as the immune system/self control is lowered in the slightest... then, BAM! Infected.

:lau so true LOL she’s infected me with the quail bug lol though to be fair, @ronott1 and @igorsMistress were also talking about it a lot and so all 3 of them kind of got me hooked and really thinking about it and all the enablers over on the baluttie thread and the HAL thread encouraged to me to buy an incubator which I did.

I'm probably going to cave under the pressure and candle at day 4 or something ;)

Kiki candles daily, sometimes multiple times daily. :lau

She really is the worst. An all out bird hoarder if I've ever seen one.

How many does she have? Lol

Probably wise. Kiks won't let you sleep, otherwise. She'll badger you til you break.

:lau

Yeah, and that little rebel Kiki decided to hatch the eggs instead  I was thinking of that yesterday actually and thank all that is holy that she decided to candle those eggs... Can you imagine? :th

I've hatched loads of chicken eggs, but only 1.5 sets of ducks. The first was a 100% hatch and the second I had to hand over the bunch to a friend halfway through as we had to move house suddenly :(

That would have been a shocker! Lol

And aw that stinks. :(

I can already feel her breathing down my neck here! lol

She’s everywhere :lau

:lau

I don't think so. They were cool to the touch when I got them, but not fridge cold. The butcher told his supplier that I am interested in eggs for hatching, so she told him she'll bring me some unwashed eggs today. Which tells me she does know a bit about pre-incubating egg care. I really hope something will come off this hatch. DS is beside himself with excitement :) He LOVES ducklings.
I hatched Calls last summer that were in the fridge at my friends a few days. I have Valentino my Drake from that hatch I got from her fridge eggs ...:wee

Keeping an eye on your progress. Hopefully your DS is going to enjoy the 4 week process to getting his ducklings.

My GQF has 42 duck eggs from Cayuga, Pekin, and Saxony as well as flock crosses.
Oh, he is! :) He is so exited. I reminded him a few times that it's going to take about 4 weeks, but it's happening, they are in the incubator, so it's just the count down to ducks now.
