This is what happens... We have peepers!

:loveIs that your boy? The ducks are ADORABLE!! Really, you people have to stop with the adorable pictures. I can’t even speak right now!

BYC has ruined me! In a good way, of course. ;)
Yep, that's my little man :) Much bigger now, nearly 13. He still talks about those ducklings! The first one hatched nearly a full day before the rest, so of course it got attention while it waited for it's buddies. That attention turned into chasing a besotted 7yo boy around the house :love I wish I videoed that!

I only have 7 chickens atm, had 8 till I lost my favorite one to a hawk fall 2017 :( most I ever had was 9 but I don’t really count that one because it died at 6 days old :( anyway, your 40+ or 100+ chickens is a lot to me!!!! :th but that said, I am getting 5 more chickens at the end of April!!! :D my numbers then will be 12. I would love to have 15, 20, 50, but at the time my dad has said no more than 8 so I tried to contain myself... well now he loves them. :lau

Might sneak some ISA browns home from the feed store though if I can find any.

I think my incubator is going to burst next week when I shove all those chicken eggs in there as well  And I'm planning to incubate them upright in cartons if I can squeeze them in...

But adding all those eggs while you are in the middle of incubating already... isn't that going to wreak havoc on your temp and humidity? Is it ok to do this? Just curious, I have not incubated.

I don't like them, they're crabby and die after a year. Maybe yours would be different though.

Aw that stinks. :( I don’t really have the room for them anyway; the minimum is six and I would have to build another coop. I had just heard that out of all the red sexlink type breeds, the ISA Browns were supposed to be the best layers and biggest eggs, which is why I kinda wanted to buy some instead of adding another kind of sexlink to my chick order. But I don’t really want sexlinks anyway, too many horror stories of the reproductive issues and deaths from it and mixed personality reviews. But I kind of thought it might be nice to get some ISAs or other sexlinks and some Leghorns and have just a layer flock in a separate coop lol

Best layers, sure, for the first year of their life. I want my birds to last longer than that. Their personalities are "intense". That's a good word for it. If they're friendly, they're then intensely friendly, but if they're average or mean then they beat up the others or bite you. Ask me how I know. :gig

Leghorns are really nice. They lay incredibly well and live longer (on average) than sexlinks. They aren't in-your-face or pecky, but they aren't lethargic either. They can take care of themselves. I actually got 11 a few weeks ago. Was going to get 25 but this is all they had.
