I'm going to visit The Man today.
I love this! While we wait for candling pics I will share a story.
So almost exactly this time last year I had a 15 year old family member living with me/visiting for a few weeks. It was not ideal as I had surgery during that time, but his parents told me to put him to work. I guess they are attempting to straighten out their teenagerwhich is only funny because it's not my problem. Anyway, he lives in one of the biggest cities in the country and I live in a town with a population of 600 people. While he stayed, along with making him do normal things like washing dishes I made him help me take care of the flock and build an apron on my duck run and go with me to the ranch store to buy feed, where it happened to be chick days. He begged me to get him a fluffy little chick, but I resisted. He complained, as any teenager would, about his chores and returned home to his family in the city. Fast forward a year to now and they are calling me because they have purchased pullets and chicks and ducklings
and worried about things like the unnatural orange color of the yolks from their first layer. My husband and I are convinced we are somehow responsible for this development and I really hope the two teenage kids take some responsibility for their new flock and can learn a thing or two. Next step is to get them BYC memberships! I hope to be introducing a new member soon.
