This is why we don't trade outside of our personally known group!!!

I agree. That's why I don't buy anything at church bake sales & I don't go to pot luck suppers. Personally I like the fact that governments have established standards for food preperation & storage. I also like the notion that the people producing food for sale are inspected.

My specific issue witht he dairy price subsidie is it is based on how far you are from Eau Claire WI. So if you live in the desert of Arizona, where it is impractical to raise dairy cattle because water feed and hay all have to be trucked in, the dairy price support is so high that you actually make huge profits even with your higher costs. Personal experience, my dad's cousin is down there doing exactly that. Taxpayer money supports a lavish lifestyle for him, where farmers in WI where the climate makes dairying sensible get nothing and have to compete with his non-sustainable operation.

Yes, I would rather get rid of the susbsidie than see it configured in this way.

Why can this silly regulation not be repealed?

New York and California have lots of population and therefore lots of repesentation in the House. These representatives will get voted out if they do anything to harm their state. So it isn't going to happen.

Do you know what going to happen to him, will he go to jail

or the best thing would be he would have to pay all the people he affected with his underhandedness, and not have animals again, like if you get caught hunting or fishing out of season you loose all your privileges

, we need consequences to our actions and not just money, or a new law

But shouldn't people have the right to buy inspected or not? And let me tell you, I worked in food service, those inspected facilities. The teens/adults that work there, many, ONLY wash their hands when an inspector is there. ONLY...so if seeing a a label makes you feel better. But I believe it niave to think cooks are clean. Sure there are clean cooks, but just because they have government approval means nothing. They are huge companies, and so many of the people that work for them could care less if they pick their nose, a wedgie or pop a pimple (yes I've seen teens do this) and then continue to cook without washing their hands. When I say teens I mean 18-19 because the underagers could not do the cooking. I would say something but they would just shrug and think it funny. The managers didn't really care either. Some would really get upset, but nobody was ever fired over it. I prefer to buy from home kitchens because knowing directly where the food comes from I have found generally makes people more accountable to be careful. If you are serving 100's of people a day that you don't know, and McDonalds, or Burger King or Golden Corrale gets sued because you made a mistake, well it doesn't bother that worker much. Or they may never know which worker it was that could have done it. I just don't see much accountability on an individual basis in large establishments. Each worker has their own standards regardless of government regulations. Sure they may get fired but they'll just get another job, probably in food service and keep their bad habits. I can barely bring myself to eat at restaruants anymore because I know what those cooks/servers do when alone and it's DISGUSTING!!! Just because they are inspected doesn't mean they are clean regularly. And your cakes would probably be cleaner and you would take more pride and be more careful than many hired help. Not all, I don't mean to imply that, I am sure there are some workers that are very responsible. But just because their are inspections/regulations does not mean your food is safe and clean or that the individual preparing it is.

Agreed. But I bet all he gets is a slap on the wrist fine. It is such a financial problem for these honorable surronunding farms, who are actually mad at the guy who brought the animals in. It was greed again. He got such a GOOD DEAL on these lovely looking cows with great milking records. Now it is a problem for everyone.

And someone had been telling the SEC about Bernie Madoff for 10 YEARS. He had all of the evidence documented and the paperwork done, all they had to do was read it, confirm it and get a pair of handcuffs on the guy. Instead thousands of people and several good chairites are broke.

We don't need new laws, enforce the ones that are neccesary and get rid of the rest.

No I don't because they are reacting to a specific situation and doing it in the way that impacts to producer as little as possible. I don't think they should be able to come on your property, test, quarantine and/or slaughter your animals without a specific reason. If they want to come on the premisis they should have the equivilent of a search warrent and if they have to confiscate or destroy it should be covered under the same rules as emminent domain. The laws are not written that way and they should be. In this case you are just lucky they chose to handle this the RIGHT way. The next group of people might not.

All leading to goverment take over. They do not want the average individual to have or sell anything without their knowing about it.
More of total control, slowly taking away peoples rights.
First them telling people they have to have medical insurance weather they can afford it or not. NExt is gun control and now taking away your right to decide if you want your food and milk natural or not.
