The government, of course....

And by that I really mean Monsanto and the other big agribiz guys who fund our politicians.

Yeah, I think its over used and mis=used. But to some folks, its a desirable way of life for many reasons. I don't really care about all the mumbo jumbo legality of it. I have a garden and chickens, good ol' deer meat and my own little beef. The rest of the world can choose to live however they wish, organic labeling or not.

ETA: meant to quote this: "Well....his father, who used to be married to my grandmother, married my mother, so technically he wasn't really my brother when I married him. He was my uncle..... or something like that.

You see, we had a lot of radon gas seeping up through the floor boards of the shack back then, so it all gets kind of muzzy after awhile when you can't breath and you can't think from lack of oxygen. "

But y'all are too quick!

You need to change your sig line after your recent, organic trip!

ok... I had an organic egg talk with my friend tonight.

She buys "organic eggs"...

So we got to talking about how my eggs differ from store bought eggs.

Well...first she points out mine are brown and the stores is white.

So I have to explain to her that they are just from a different breed of chicken.

Then I get to saying "organic" probably means the chickens were not fed anything that would have some kind of chemical in it or antibiotics...

Then she wanted to know if a chickens poop came out the same hole the egg did.

And she noticed a scuff mark on a couple of my eggs sitting on the counter. So I got to talking to her about how store bought are rinsed with a cleaning solution and eggs are porous so they can absorb some of that. But I don't know about what they do for organic eggs if they have a scuff mark?

Then I tell her about some people use a fine grain sand paper to get the scuff mark off not wanting to wash it in water because they will remove the bloom. Then I had to explain to her the bloom....

I also talked to her about if I were to buy my chickens from a hatchery they would be immunized and I wasn't sure "organic" chickens would be or not?

At anyrate... I came to realize I have no idea what organic eggs mean.
