So you are saying that all 4 of my females which were hatched the 12 th of August probably won't lay this year??? My 2 males were hatched the same day.

i don't know what yours will do mine most all of mine layed at a year of age, only time will tell

My first three hens laid none in the 1st year, a few eggs in their 2nd year, then more in the 3rd and tons (over 100 between the 3) in their 4th year. My second batch of 4 yearling laid none in their first year. So for me it's been zero eggs from a total of 7 yearling hens. The majority of mine hatched before August.

So I shouldn't look for any this year and can let them out?

]Great .....2 different opinions. I guess it doesn't matter if I let them out or not since the 2 males are the same age and too young!

If they lay they will go find a hiding spot, could be right there or off somewhere but they will not be laying right now for sure mabe closer to their hatch date from what mine have done.

I was told years ago my young geese would not lay till they were a year old and i tell ya what 1 of them layed at 6 months of age, I have had early hatch guineas lay at the end of season when they turned 4 months old so it depends on the bird really.

I'm not saying you won't get any eggs, just that I haven't seen any from mine, which is a very small number (7), but this year I have many more yearlings, so maybe I will see some this season?

I've never had a yearling hen lay either. My 2 year-olds lay a couple, and at 3 they lay like crazy. Must be something good in the water in TX.
