Look at Calypso she has barely any white edging on her neck. Not barely, it's very visible, males do not show this, even at an early age...
http://www.upaforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=4926&sid=32e9bb1325a3a417809a0ff8d5de505e This Pied peachick that is a male on the right looks just like Thor! These aren't mine, these are what I found when I Google imaged upa forum pied peachick.
The source of this photo notes that not one person even commented on the sex of the birds other than the owner..... most people with questions do not go there first, but here to BYC. the bird on the right is female...compare with the bird on far left! Note that NO white edging to the breast feathers on that bird, not even barely, while the bird on the right has obvious edging, which is in no way related to the bird being pied, but entirely with the sex of the bird. It even has no barring on its back.

The same person that posted on that website posted here on BYC too. The peafowl Darla looks very much like Thor to me. And though the author of the post seems to think Darla is a she, new 2 pfowl thinks Darla is a 'he' not a she.

I agree with new2 in that post (but let me clarify for you - given the photograph in question), but darla looks nothing like Thor. Oh well, we have what we have  that's the beauty of it all, and as augeredin said, you could always DNA sex them to prove us all wrong now, or wait to prove us all wrong later, it matters only to the breeder what they each have, we all raise them for their beauty....

In that picture, there is an IB peacock, an IB BS peacock, and an IB Pied peahen in my opinion.

BirdBrain, I will give you my reasons and try finding reference images to show why I think Thor is a peahen. I do not have a single blue peafowl on my premises anymore, so I cannot take any current pictures. Your observations on male vs female may not always work, just a heads up.

You saying Thor and Darla look nothing alike is your own opinion. And I respect that. I still think they have a few similarities between them. The one thing that matters most in my mind is that no matter what sex the Peafowl are, they are all creatures of God and we will love them all the same.

Which ever sex Thor turns out to be, male or female, we will except that and be happy with the outcome.

Can you please tell me which one is Darla? I agree, peafowl are one of God's great creations, and I do love mine dearly. Some of mine I just waited to grow a train to know if it was a peacock or peahen!

I know that Thor does have the white edging like a peahen. Remember one thing to have a peafowl that matures fast you must also have a peafowl that matures slow as well. Thor may be a late bloomer just like Colbolt and Jadea. Colbolt had a barred train that barely had a few feathers that were solid when he was 2 years and 10 months old. Colbolt is 3 years and 3 months and now he has a train that has a lot of eyes. Colbolt didn't have a solid blue breast until he was 2 years and 10 months. That is late for a peacock. Most peacocks have a solid blue breast when they are just over 2 years old not when they are almost 3 years old. I would do a DNA test on Thor but my dad won't let me. I guess we'll have to wait until summer at least. Might be for sure in a few months like January or February. I'm pretty sure that peahens don't have barred feathers scattered across their shoulders.

In the 3rd picture, Darla is the one on the left. I believe this because the author talks about Farina, her Blue Pied Peacock and shows a picture of Farina with the very Blue neck & long train. In the 3rd pic, Farina is most likely on the right (blue neck & long colorful train) so the one on the left must be Darla.

That's what's most exciting! Waiting to see your peafowl's true gender and watching them blossom into wonderful adults!

Darla is the IB Pied peacock. It was Farina until someone suggested the person to name it Darla. Not sure why.
