Those who need help in sexing peafowl

Those feathers are like Calypso's. Thor doesn't have any feathers like that.
If Thor is male the feather should look like the pictures of male feathers that I posted. I'm no expert, but I think the best place to get the feather from is the back of the neck, not the chest.

Our of curiosity, Birdrain92, do you catch Thor each time to get pictures of...it? I did take picture of my bronze peachicks and can post those once I go through them.

Not all the time I just take pics when I work with him. I'm going to be the first person to show any type of peafowl at the Canyon County Fair in Caldwell ID. I'm going to be in history for being the first person to show peafowl at the Canyon County Fair. I work with him so he will be used to me and when I show him that them they shouldn't freak out when I catch them hopefully. My best friend was going to show his pair with me but the curtains came crashing down when his neighbor shot both of them and plucked all the feathers and returned a dead peacock and peahen with no feathers at all. His pair were 4 years old so it would've been beautiful.

That is awful :,(

I always thought that even if a peafowl was friendly, if it was put in such a different environment of a fair it would get stressed a lot and freak out, probably breaking it's feathers in the process. That will be cool if it works though. When we were in Ukraine, I heard a peacock screaming, so after walking around we found a guy with a peacock on a perch and was taking pictures of people and the peacock. That peacock was very friendly, and it was nice to see him because I missed mine. Two of my breeder hens for next year were born while we were away.

Also I used to be in a 4-H club but then I got in to high school and I decided to do FFA instead. They are about the same thing but I don't need to have a person so I can show a type of animal at the fair. Sad thing is, I'm the only person in my FFA chapter that knows how to show poultry. Nice thing is though when it comes to poultry that isn't a chicken I get to design the pen. So I will try to make it big enough so feathers don't get ruined. Also I'm going to be showing a Gelbvieh Heifer as well because I was part of the Snake River Stampede Rodeo Calf Scramble and I got $1,000 to buy a heifer. I get to show it at the fair and the rodeo. I can't wait until July because I've got all of these things I get to do this year! I hope Thor and Calypso cooperate at fair. I'm thinking of just using a tether for Thor and Calypso unless I get into this type of showing known as Round Robin. It's were people that show other animals show each others animals. So if I get into Round Robin showing Thor and Calypso, I have to show other peoples' animals like goats, sheep, rabbits, pygmy goats, swine, cats, dogs, and someone else has to show Thor and Calypso. If it comes down to that I'm going to clip their wings. It might be hard since they will be molting by July so it might be a waste of money to clip their wings.

Sadly I didn't. I tried getting some feathers out but when I would tug on a feather and they would fly everywhere and they started get to stressed out. I'm going to hopefully get them tomorrow.
