Well it's late at night and I can't sleep so I'm just gonna post this lol

We're trying to get rid of our rooster, and I've thought about if we did, we could get another hen to fill his spot, but I'm wondering what breeds to have in mind, so I came here of course haha.

If we do end up doing that, I want a breed(s) that's calm and a good layer, and is somewhat hardy. The breeds we currently have are 2 RIRs, 2 SLW (one is the rooster 2 WRs, 2 EEs a black sex link, and the other I'm calling a cuckoo marans, since she doesn't scream barred rock to me at all. We also have a Pekin duck and a Rouen.

I feel like I've went on long enough so just to make things quick, what breeds would you all recommend? I'll read the replies in the morning, thank you xx

Where are you located? If you’re looking for cold hardy breeds I recommend Brahmas, Welsummers, Orpingtons, Dominiques, and Faverolles. If you’re looking for heat tolerant breeds I recommend leghorns, Andalusians, and Campines.

I had 30 of these gals for 2years... And only one was ever a pecker.

There will be an aggressive chicken of every breed!

What are RIR's known for??? AGGRESSIVE! Well, I've had some of my nicest be RIR's.

You can't go wrong with an Australorp. Cold hardy, easy to handle and get along with, and excellent layers. I have one that is over 10 years old and she still gave me a few eggs last summer!

Hello...Trying to introduce one Hen is hard..Its best to bring in two so they have each other and gives the aggressive Hens another Bird to pick on during integration ..Look no touch pen the first week and them free range when first let out with the flock..Gives more space to run if needed?

I've heard positive things about all of those! We used to have blue andalusians brown leghorns and white leghorns actually. We were supposed to get white leghorns this time around but we ended up with the white rocks instead were located in Tennessee btw
