I luv the Sussex! Have you had them before?

I haven't! But they were so pretty and big and supposedly great layers! I wanted a good layer that I enjoyed looking at.. so I went with them. I'm excited!!

Cull pertains to removing the bird from the breeding program, and not selling it in such a way to make another think they now have a breedable bird.

Culling here usually ends a roosters life, and selling the cull hens to egg laying only flocks. Sometimes cull hens go into our egg laying flock for selling eggs.

I was hoping you would say that. I don't like the word "cull".. I prefer.. "seperate" or "remove".

Speaking of culling, I was out making sure everyone was locked up and I have a silkie with a bald back. Guess my rooster needs to go. I had a BO with a bald back, I sold her and her sister thinking it was maybe because the BO was a hoochie who squatted everytime my roo walked by. Well, I'm not selling my silkie. Aprons are a pain, I'm not dealing with trying to keep one on her. So, since he's just going to be like that I think him and hormone boy drake need to go. They've even been bickering with each other. I won't process anymore birds myself, unless they are super easy like the quail. I need to try to find somewhere around here to take them to to have it done.

I know what cull means, I just think it is stupid to use one word for many purposes/meanings, so my personal preference is not to use it

Bad rooster. I'd eat him.

My kids go out & Catch them (not hard as they are very friendly) & hold them. My daughter will just walk around with one under her arm, and they just sit there !
