Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Yep, if the cells are too big your evaporating too much moisture from the egg and you need to increase your humidity and if it's too small then your humidity is too high for the proper rate of evaporation.

Thanks, QJ. Today is day 4. I'll switch to dry tomorrow.

SM, good morning. :) If air cells are too small, then decrease humidity. I noticed my air cells were too small on my duckies as I had been keeping the incubator at 55% humidity. For the last week, I dropped it to 40-45% and it seemed to help. This time, I am trying to keep it closer to 50% and I see better air cells on the eggs in bator now.

I keep my humidity at 60% durring incubation, It's so weird that different incubators require different humidity. I'm going to keep that in mind since I'm going to be starting a DIY incubator project soon.

Chicken, do you mark lines on egg to show air cell rate of evaporation? I am doing that now with my goose eggs and find it very interesting,

Now we have rain and snow at the same time. It sucks. 4 " on the ground and more coming. With rain it is going to be fun going to the store. Oh well at least we can get through the snow with the truck..4 wheel drive. Checked eggs today. Babies are still swimming around inside their eggs. What was the rule on air cells? If air cell is too large, increase humidity. If too small, decrease humidity. I can't remember.
That's the one that always stumps me too. Too little, increase humidity.. is that right?

We got a dusting here. Now it's just a muddy mess.

My air cells on the first shipped eggs see HUGE and still a total mess. I have them sitting upright with a slight angle to them. I am concerned about the goose eggs cause their air cells are so misshapen and still sloushy.

My daughter just called and she is stuck out at the barn in the snow and grandson needs to get to drivers class. So that means I am going to have to go out in this **** to take him. I can't believe they are going to have these kids drive in this ****.

Speaking of experiments with incubation.... Celtic, CONGRATS to your son!!! Please tell me more about his experiment!!!!!!!! :D

Wow. why didn't they cancel? That's kind of a liability I would think. Driver's class or not.
