I have Silver Appleyards (4) due Friday!! And ALL my Saxony's are developing.

its very easy! The first bator I made was a styrofoam cooler turned upside down. I put 1/4" mesh in bottem, over a few mayo lids for water, and put eggs on it. With previous bottem, turn upside down and bottem is not top. Put old light on top (through hole just big enough for female part of ligh)t, duct tape in place, with a 25 watt bulb. You can get a rheastate that plugs in cheap (for adjusting energy into light to control temp) or like me, make a bunch of holes top and bottem, than cover and uncover as needed to maintain 102 in the still air! I think it cost me under $5, and I hatched in it for about 4 monthes before buying a hovabator. I still use them for the lockdown, since I've got all dates of eggs cooking.

Easy to clean too, take out light, bleach, rinse, put cleane light and cleaned screen back, hatch again!!

QJF- thats how I got tied up with you all to begin with!! :)

I'm so glad to hear your ducks are doing well! Almost their, and then you be back to wanting to hatch more. Do your appleyards lay well? I just LOVE their name...Apple Yard....sounds like a good place to be a duck.

These will be my first apples ever! I'm excited. I've never had this breed before. Same with the saxony's. I'm expanding my horizons.

I love ducks. So far, the commen peking is my favorite. I want some prettier ducks though. Mine are all brown or whtie. Just like the quail. And the brown turkey. Hmm.... maybe I need something in nice shade of PINK!!

Whats the prettiest duck that is a farm duck? Call ducks and wood ducks don't count here.

Once I figure out how to do the picture thing, I will It is even easier than it sounds, seriously. I have pics of Ruth (now 12) when she was very little staring in the window I made in it with a broken pane of glass! (I taped it in inside, and another outside, for the double paynes to presearve heat)

Just a cooler, a screen, a few shallow lids, and a light w/25 watt bulb does it. oh, and holes top and bottem, and some masking tape, which can be pulled up, and pushed back down, lots. Now, if you would stop writing interesting things, I could get off. I need to go buy some ebay eggs, you've all given me hatching fever, and I've allready got things in one incubator!!
