My thoughts exactly. We had a piglet last year. I named him bacon, lol. Stupid neighbors called animal control who told us since we didn't have a proper pen and locked gate built for him yet he had to go, so I traded him for chickens. Eggs taste so much better with bacon though.

Anything is better with bacon.

We had a goat at one time & my hubby named him PAGAN !

Ok, so those 16 RIR eggs I had in the bator are doing good... Well 11 of them. 5 were rotten :(

So I put 14 more in :lau

I put bobby ALL the way invthe back of the bator, im so scared that a egg will expload all over him and he will die. Im a worry wart

So I have 11 RIR eggs due march 5th, and some more due g days later, I have a buyer for anything that hatches. Well, at leased 15 of them lol.

Im so excited for bobby to hatch! :celebrate even though its only been a week, theres only 21 days left :woot :celebrate :D

A 6" fence? Sorry I caught that

But I admire you for being as understanding as you are. A simple fix is to run a electric fence along the top. It is a like a $50 fix & will never happen again.
Freckles is a very gifted climber. He used to be in their wood fenced backyard, but started getting out a couple of years ago. He just climbs my fence like a ladder, and kind jumps/falls in. Usually the ducks get upset when he shows, so sometimes I get him before he gets in, but not today. He's an escape artist, and Bob (the neighbor) is about 87 now, so if he forgets and puts him in the backyard, or Freckles makes a dash for it, he can get away. :-(

Don't want Bob to put the dog down, but don't feel I should have to do more than a 6" fence. He never bugs the turkeys, and the quail are in the garage, so he can't reach them. Guess the ducks are the only souls he can overpower. I've wondered if he like them because hes a bird dog, but I don't know. :-(

He killed another neighbors two chickens a last year. Bob just pays for them, always very very sorry, but I wish I knew how to help him. He gets so upset when he does it, but since his wife died, he just can't get rid of him. (He was Deloris's dog)

OMG Marty. That is awful! It is a dog's nature and accidents do happen. But merely paying for your lost duck would not be enough for me.

After the flood here, we lost all our fencing around our acreage (as well as all our nieghbors fencing) They had chickens loose, bunnies, ducks etc. I felt so bad when my pooch brought me a rooster, SO proud of herself.... I offered to give them money, but they wouldn't have it. & also was bringing me rabbits that got loose. I actually had to rehome her, because of it. If not for the flood, she would have never been a "chicken killer". But once they learn this behaviour..... She is happy though!

I ALWAYS keep my dogs in my yard, that is MY responsiblity as a dog owner, it is not someone elses responsiblity to keep your dog out of their yard.
