Julie, we have a hen who laid double yolkers for her first year who was a fridge egg. She was also carried by one small child while still an egg and shaken, then put in the fridge and then the incubator. She is still with us, and still laying nice large single yolk eggs now.

Yesterday's dots in the eggs are hearts with very strong veins. They are so easy to candle right now, I just have to shine a light by them and I can see easy. I think I may take out 2-3 of them and move them under my broody silkie mix. She is very determined to hatch something, she hasn't moved off her golf ball for a week. I've stuck an ice pack in there and moved her off 2-3 times a day, but it's done no good. She's almost tiny enough to incubate my quail eggs I think. Maybe I should stick some under her and see.

im wondering if when i lose the RIRs the stress level will go down..

Celtic (or anyone that wants to chime in).... my duckies are now 3 weeks old and certain ones sound distinctly like whoopie cushions. How high are the chances that they are female?? The buyer who wants 2 girls/1 boy called and wants to come get them tomorrow and I could use the room in my brooder pen.

Wow. I have 9 chickens. I get 4-6 a day usually. One doesn't lay anymore, and 2 are broody, 1 just stopped being broody a few weeks ago.
