Variety of duckies lol. The person I got them from said probably Blue and Black Swedens, Cayugas, and I can't remember what else. When I incubated my duck's eggs I could see hearts on day 3. I know they are all different.

I wouldn't expect to see anything candling duck eggs before day 5 and usually I am not sure until about day 10.

I sure hope your surgery goes well though, you need that toe darn it!

I am really hoping for some little Cayugas running around out of these eggs. I just love them. I was hoping for some Buffs too but her ducks weren't laying

I've used a drop of Ivermectin (1% cattle injectable) applied externally when I had duck lice last spring. That is supposed to also worm internally through the skin. It is off label and I don't know the length of time you should not eat their eggs or butcher them. I gave it a couple of weeks, esp. for my daughter's collie, as collies are often sensitive to Ivermectin. I've never had any reason to think I had internal parasites in my ducks and I don't have a poultry vet any where near to help me with it. I was thinking of worming them all here soon, as only one of this year's baby ducks is laying and it's likely to stay that way for some time to come.

SM - did you see my pictures I put up to cheer you up?

I love these pics. I just want to pick each one up and kiss and hug them they are so adorable. Thank you so much for posting them. They made me feel all fuzzy inside.

Hey everybody! We had the husband's family Thanksgiving tonight so I've been out for awhile. I LOVE the pics of the duckies they are adorable. Thanks to Miss Lydia and 70 for the advice. I went ahead and gave it a qtip bath in warm water. We'll see what happens. It's pretty thick goo. Tmw I think I will try a drop of dawn in the water. I haven't been able to put it in the brooder because there is one obnoxious chicky that is pickin on it. (It's pretty ugly... just sayin'.) It's also very tiny and wobbly but otherwise healthy. The remaining 2 eggs also hatched had to help both out. So out of these eggs I ordered I got 9 out of 9. That's 100%!! woo hoo!

SM- Would it be easier to just take the stinkin' toe off? I mean.. you have 4 others. And yes I'm serious. It might be easier. I'm worried about that gangreen (sp) spreading into your blood stream and causing bigger problems.

Believe me I asked the doc to do that but he said no way. He has me on some heavy antibiotics right now. I still feel like poop though. Maybe all of you guys should come here and kidnap me afterwards for a break and cheer me up party.
