Hi everyone! I am new to the ducks section of BYC. Just ordered my first 12 duck eggs (Silver Appleyards) to come Monday.Yay!!!
I've never hatched duck eggs before so I am very nervous; I've done a ton of chicken eggs though... I'm hoping it's similar.

Marty.. We eat duck eggs all of the time, and have 3 customers who buy a doz each every other week. Our teenage son bakes cookies with them too about every week.
CG, what type of ducks do you want? Are you on a timeline? Do you want hatching eggs? I can't set another duck egg right now and get 4 khaki eggs daily. Pay the shipping and I will fill the box. Let me know more than happy to share them.
QJ, this is the long slow part, they will rest often until the start zipping.
When vent sexing, be sure you are pushing in, it's more of a pulling out to the sides away from the vent area. Slow and steady as not to injure them.
Oh and Marty, little man is doing much better. No fever, mild diarrhea but eatting like a champ again. He is an infertility baby, every shot was well worth it to have him.
QJ, sorry the chicks are giving you a hard time hatching. Are they in with the geese?
Jaz, too funny about the escape, maybe create a most wanted poster (all old west style) and post it.
