Was yummy !

I am just trying to get all my lieutenant sarcastic out of my system today, I am just being facetious! Sorry everyone in ADVANCE .... & I haven't even had my cocktail yet.... Oh no tonight may bring drama MWA hahahah

I went back for seconds. Mmm. Too bad there was no bacon to go with it.

Then I took a trip down to a feedstore I hadn't been to before. No ducklings (*phew*), but they've got chicks. I got their list of expected shipments, but there's nothing I can't live without. You should have seen the lost look when I asked the woman if they were going to get Saxony ducks...

Guess I'm going to have to suck it up and buy some hatching eggs from across the country.

SFH #2- Almost out. #3 so shrink wrapped that when I got the membrane off it's beak it gasped for air. swear to bajesus. It hadn't internally pipped.

#4 and #5 almost out.

The one that's out is black and yellow... ?

They are a landrace, not a breed so they come in every color and with crests and without I believe. Most of the ones I see look mille fleur to me though.

Hi everyone! I am new to the ducks section of BYC. Just ordered my first 12 duck eggs (Silver Appleyards) to come Monday.

Yay!!!

I've never hatched duck eggs before so I am very nervous; I've done a ton of chicken eggs though... I'm hoping it's similar.

Hey White Mountain!! Yay!!! and welcome to our thread!!

Whats wrong with Pekings? Cute, freiendly, talkative..... They are permanent teenagers, youd like them! (OK I

my sweet white mamas.... They are the first ones to greet me every morning, and mine are excellent layers of large white eggs. I like them so much, I'm hatching some GIANT Pekings now.... Bigger eggs from 12-15 lb ducks!

My customers pay more for the bigger eggs!

Do any of you also sell duck eggs for dining purposes, and not just hatching??

My only worry with pekins is that they're prone to leg and joint problems because of their size. I have a "broken" pekin. She's a sweetie, but called Clumsy for a reason. I've already had to segregate her and put her on a diet once when she started having trouble getting around.

Not a big fan of adult ducks living in the bathtub.

Pekins do have outstanding personalities though. If you are just looking to have a couple pet ducks, they're a good choice.

WMR- Welcome! You'll love ducks, if you can get over the mess part.
CG- Yay, glad you found someone to buy them so quick. As far as ducklings, you'll have some of your own in a few weeks you'll want to keep. Be patient grasshopper.

the calls will be too little to be with the geese.
lol.

OH speaking of that ..... I lost a guinea !!! Yes it was bound to happen, now it stalks my neighbors & the tree in my yard out of my reach

I am about ready to get out my slingshot or my trusty Red Ryder !!! The ^&%%$%^% got out then tormented me and hubby frantically chasing it up the river & over the woods to grandmothers house we go....

Tried taking my face off with it eagle talons, then evaded my hubby through blackberry briars only to get hubby tangled in them only to trip him with spouting profanities from his mouth in the process ~ When we catch it IT WILL BE dinner little focker !!!

Mmm. Roast Guinea. I'd be tempted to do the same.
