Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

thanks about the nails i got bored.

and its where her belly button would be but why is it scabby?
amelia doesnt have it .

It just happens sometimes. I've had that on baby ducks too. I think its got something to do with the yolk, but every body is different. I'm sure it'll be well very soon. I've seen this before.

ok. as long as she doesnt bump it and hurt herself or those dumb chicks peck at it .
im sure she will be fine
i just noticed it today tho when i was drying her off.

Generally, In my expereince, if the baby is acting o.k., they get better no matter what weirdness hatching has inflicted on them. If shes eating, pooping, drinking, and squeeking......no worries mate!

I thought you were gonna get rid of those peanuts??

You should get them Julie. Not to high a price now, either. Seems like some have gone down, after the initail rush to be the first to hatch out cool new babies.....

It's spring, or almost is. Everything is starting to lay, eggs shouldn't be as hard to find or as expensive for most chickens and dicks I think. If they stay low I'll just have to get another bator.

Nope, right now its "no name" or, "black ducky" and I keep calling the other one "yellow ducky"

I soooo totally understand! I just got a hova genesis the other day. I actually borrowed one of my moms oldies, just for lock downs, but its so horrible it killed most of my last hatch of babies. I just got another. No point in wasting expensive hatching eggs, or even my own sweet duckies and quails eggs.
