Lol. my hen lays grayish white eggs.
Im booked till east or after lol. U probably wont get them till after april

July is fine, if it comes too it! (ok, maybe too hot then... but you get the idea) Oh, just was catching up and find you can only have one bator. Hmm... save up egg money, and when you get enough, sell your llittle bator, and get a used cabinet w/hatcher in bottom. Then, only one, but it'll be a doozy!

QJ..... What's the status of the second gosling? If it pipped internally I would pip external so it can breath. Don't make a large hole though so it doesn't dry out the membrane. Congrats ont he first! Can't wait for a fluffed up picture.

Please tell me this is normal! Or I will die!
1st off, bobby has black lines following his bloodlines at the pointy part of the egg, and the egg is all black. Is this normal? Im so scared to loose him!
2nd! I candled my WH eggs and theres no development yet! Is this normal? I put them in wednesday night. Should their be veining yet?

I can't see veining until day 7, so I think Id leave them until then. Remember to handle carefully this early, the veins are super delicate, and any rough handling now could be harmful. BTW, i think most places say to wait until day 10 to candle first.

I don't know how much electricity they use. I have fan hovas, and I've got several plans for a cabinet one. The simplist ones have two light bulbs, a fan, thermostat, and sometimes a didgital thermometer/hydrometer on it. It will definately use moreelec. than the little ones.

I think Celtic or Jaz would know for sure. I'm not sure what bators everyone else has.

I've seen a two layor one with a constant fan and only one light bulb that held about 100 chicken eggs. Maybe you could just use a little egg money to DIY one. There are some excellent plans here on BYC.

I'm seriously considering taking apart my moms old round hovabator (she gave it to me) and using the heating element to make another incubator. I scored a 18 x 24 inch interior stryfoam shipping box, with 2" thick walls. Its about 14 inches deep, and I think it would be a good bator. I've got a small fan, the recycled heater, maybe coupled with a new thermostat for it, and one of these hand turning trays that can be turned from the outside, for ease of turning. If I check it out and it works, I'll tell you how I did it so you can maybe convert yours too hold more eggs too.

Has anyone here built thier own easy to use and functional incubator?
