I'm pretty sure he can.... he keeps peeping at the chicks in the brooder... (my mom got cornish rock crosses for the freezer...) the blood is ALMOST absorbed! And he started turning when i slightly opened the egg.... I feel like a killer!...............

If he can peep he can breathe. Leave him alone for now. I had 2 do fine and 2 I had to help, but they didn't require much help.
 
Excellent, gotta go google (unless you have a pic to share) what a bobtail quail is.

We have BobWhites we free range here on the property. They were raised from hatching to adulthood in small covey cages and then soft released into an aviary for flight work. Then we opened the aviary door one day and let them roam in and out. Now I can go out and whistle or use the bobwhite call on my phone and they come from all directions to be fed. Not all will come back in at night, but we still have 70% that do return and they sing and stand looking at us almost like demanding to know where their food is.

think they are the same thing :D
my neighbor is from NC and called them tennese bobtails :p
