Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

OH I keep forgetting. Who has used sand in their coop? Hubby has some from the winter.

so which is better, chicken coop, duck coop, or neither.

I've got a combo of sand and stall mats in my duck pen. I'm going to need to fix a few things though, the drainage is all wonky and around here, that's a real bad thing.

Sand probably works well for people who didn't grade the run bazzackwards.

I think we need to get a room at the Skamania Lodge & go to this !!! Maybe turn it into a spa day @ Carson Hot Springs!

Hmmm you interested?

They are beautiful. Mine are in their ugly phase, they have white fluff sticking out everywhere.

Surely they're not all girls. That would be crazy. Although right now I think all my chickens are pullets... lol.

The 2 I hatched before are both girls too. I should know for sure soon. I would try vent sexing them, but it seems pointless when nothing will pop out if they are girls anyway. Maybe I should try, just for the practice.

I have GOT to go to bed. I'm outta control on this thread. One last peek at the Saxony eggs... (not candling, don't worry)..

Oh Julie- I've got one of your girls eggs in the bator and its got a red dot. :)

How many days? You think it's from your ancona boy? I've still got all 14 I set going, ld on the first in 8 days.

Interesting. They should only be 1-2 days different and all went in together.

Of course, I didn't gather them, so I can't say I'm 100% on that.
Mine are all different sizes, but they were collected from the same duck so there's a lot of difference in age, although not when they were set.

Hey! I made it to the end! Ya'll need to stop talking so much when I'm at work!

My two chicks that we put under the farm broody both came out from under mama today, so now I know for sure they're both okay! I was only seeing one at a time and then wondering if my mind was playing tricks on me!

Flippy is doing well with the bigger, stronger chick. I'll have pics if my cell phone ever allows me to upload the darn things. "Smart Phone," my buttocks.
